The workshop has been installed in a former chapel, in the rectory of Allieres.
|
|
|
|
|
|
In combination with all my work, I trace sketches of forms that come from feelings that I want to express, without overly bothering about my sources of inspiration: the observation of the nature, volumes and structures, plants and minerals… mixed with what may arise from my unconscious.
When I decide to make the sculpture outlined, I start studying the volume with clay or cardboard. This is not strictly speaking a model, it is a starting point that allows me to visualize in three dimensions what I intend to achieve.
When my project is ready, I determine a size and think about technical implications, choice of steel (mild steel or stainless steel, or also aluminum, brass or copper), thickness, necessary surface, welding input.
I cut an item of the top of the sculpture or the most complex part I want to begin with on stiff paper, make me a shape like in sewing.

...then, according to the project, I bend, in a direction...

| …in the other one, as many times as necessary with this machine. |

...I cut off, bend an element after another to match their assembly. |

...I carry on cutting off, assembling, pointing, item by item, listening to what I feel of the whole volume.

... When the sculpture is completed, I weld it entirely.

...then I grind welds carefully to obtain a pure and sharp edge. |
